"Down" -
the legendary Tauern Trail ....
Untertauern lies in one of
the biggest and most beautiful
cross-country ski areas in the Salzburger
Sportwelt Amadé. With 160
kilometres of maintained trails
(groomed both for classic and
skating technique) featuring all
levels of difficulty, and the 50
km-long Tauern Trail definitely
leading the field, the pulse of
every cross-country fan is sure
to begin racing with
anticipation. Even famous
cross-country greats, such as
World Champion Alois Stadlober
and former Wasalauf winner, Walter Mayer,
are always sure to find the new
challenges they seek on these
variety-packed trails - which
include, incidentally, some
absolutely glorious high trails.

"Up" - Cross-country
skiing at the
Gnadenalm & in Obertauern
18 km of cross-country trails
and winter hiking paths in Obertauern,
on the Gnadenalm (12 km), in
Untertauern (13 km) and in Tweng
(23 km): From the Gasthof Zehnerkar
on the pass heights, to the
Felseralm and down to the Gnadenalm.
The route is challenging, with
up- and downhill stages, best
for experienced skiers. The
Hundsfeld Trail enjoys a
wonderfully sunny setting,
leading to the sports centre and
making a big loop into the
valley basin, to the Seekarhaus,
the Dikt'n Alm and
Kringsalm and then back; and
right next to it: the family
winter hiking path!
Intermediate difficulty level (6
km). The Schaidberg
Trail is ideal for your first
attempts at cross-country
skiing, or if you are looking
for a way to "warm up" your
skis, and is located between the Schaidberg
and Plattenkar lifts.
Route: easy (1-2 km). The
World Cup Trail takes us from
the pass heights to the
Felseralm and back, perfect for
skiers who are in good shape!
Route: intermediate to difficult (10 km).
The
Gnadenalm Trail sets out above
the Gnadenalm - towards
Untertauern - and can be reached
either by car or on the ski
shuttle. This trail
features all levels of
difficulty.
